McHappy III: The Story Behind an Iconic Hinckley

McHappy III: The Story Behind an Iconic Hinckley

Some yachts carry more than just passengers—they carry legacies. The 2013 Hinckley Talaria 48, McHappy III, is one of those rare vessels.

Her original owner was no stranger to the Hinckley family, having commissioned several builds over the years. But McHappy III was different. She was his final creation—his swan song—a yacht crafted not just with intention, but with heart.

He cruised her regularly, season after season. Summers were spent exploring Canada, while winters brought her to the sunshine of Palm Beach. A true yachtsman, he was also a visionary entrepreneur—best known as the founder of McDonald’s in international markets. McHappy III was his personal retreat, his compass between two worlds.

Earlier this year, McHappy III found her next chapter.

A fast sale, the boat caught the attention of her new owner during the Palm Beach International Boat Show. Just two weeks later, the deal was done. She’s now bound for a full refit in Savannah before returning to the water for new adventures in South Carolina and Rhode Island.

A yacht with a story—and now, a new one about to begin.
