Vessel Description

BLOSSOM is a classic yawl-rigged early Mark III B-40 and represents a great opportunity to take over ownership of a meticulously cared for Bermuda 40 that is very well equipped and has been extensively upgraded by her current owner and her previous owner of over 30 years. She had an extensive refit at the Hinckley Service yard in Southwest Harbor, Maine in 2005 and was used lightly during Maine summers and stored inside a heated building in the winter. Her current owner has continued that care and use and has continued to upgrade and improve her. Besides her normal winter service and maintenance, her recent upgrades include:

Construction:

  • Solid fiberglass hull reinforced with additional laminations in all stress areas.
  • Deck, with balsa core stiffeners, is set in a 6” molded hull flange, fiberglassed and bolted to form a permanent hull/deck joint.
  • External lead keel – Fastened with stainless steel bolts
  • Bronze centerboard – is operated by a worm gear with override in case grounding.
  • Rub rail – Painted with stainless steel half-round at sheer.

  • Varnished teak toe rails replaced 2020
  • Stainless steel stem head with anchor roller, bow and stern pulpits, and stanchions with double lifelines and gates (stanchions rebedded 2005)
  • Second anchor line on spool in chain locker with deck access aft of windlass 5/8” braided nylon, approx. 200’
