Manufacturer’s Description

This Morris Yachts M36, (Hull #004, PEARL), designed by Sparkman & Stephens, is a graceful combination of classic style, the latest in naval architecture and modern boat building materials. Optimized for short or single-handed sailing the M36 is perfect for a day or a weekend, delivering performance sailing that is fun, comfortable and simple. Her Morris Yachts quality construction and finish, together with her S&S design pedigree will guarantee lasting service and value.

A modest cabin is incorporated into the design which contains a head and galley. Galley is complete with DC refrigeration, sink, fresh water hand pump, lockers and drawers. The enclosed head includes a countertop with a round SS sink and fresh water hand pump. The port and starboard settees are designed for comfortable lounging or sleeping. Twin end table lockers are forward of the settees. There is a spacious Vee-berth in the forepeak. Although the M36 does not have full standing headroom below the trunk cabin, the oversized companionway hatch provides limitless headroom at the galley, and there is comfortable sitting headroom for the settees. The interior is finished in Herreshoff style, with white bulkheads and solid mahogany trim with high gloss varnish.

Sail handling has been thoroughly engineered for simplicity, reliability, and ease of use. All control lines, sheets and halyards have been led below the deck to control/winch pods located in the cockpit. Manual self-tailing primary winches are standard. The only sheets running above deck are for the cruising gennaker. These are led aft to a location handy to the helmsperson and are controlled by self-tailing manual winches. All of these features allow for comfortable and convenient single handing.

Forward of the control pods are spacious port and starboard cockpit seats that are over six feet in length. They are comfortably suitable for seating six adults. Cockpit seat hatches on all three seats allow access to below-decks storage.

The hull and appendages are designed and built for fast and nimble performance under both power and sail. Exterior styling is traditional with gelcoat deckhouse and gloss varnished teak eyebrow trim and cabin top handrails. The deck has a non-skid finish and the cockpit sole is fitted with teak decking.

All mechanical installations are simple and straightforward. A Yanmar 18 HP Saildrive diesel engine is standard for auxiliary propulsion. Wind, depth and speed instrumentation are standard.
