VESSEL WALKTHROUGH

Moon Reach is set up for easy shorthanded sailing with her electric winches and Leisurefurl main boom and her large, comfortable cockpit is protected by a custom bimini.  The sail plan is designed with a large main and smaller, 105% jib which makes tacking much easier than with larger genoas.  She has been used lightly summers in New England most of her life and is currently moored in Windmill Harbor, a fresh water, protected marina on Hilton Head Island where she is ready for the coming season she is an excellent value for a quality boat equally capable of easy daysailing and extended cruising.

CONSTRUCTION:

HULL:

• Morris “Rib-Kore” reinforced solid fiberglass laminated with Hydrex Vinylester resin with foam cored longitudinal structure reinforced with unidirectional fabrics.
• Transverse reinforced longitudinal foam stringers.
• Transom is reinforced with 1” foam core.
• Stars and Stripes Blue Awlgrip hull paint (2021).
• Gold leaf cove stripe (2021).
• Double boot stripe (2021).
• Red bottom paint.
• PVC rubrail painted to match hull with stainless steel chafe strip
• Folding teak swim platform mounted to transom
• Paine/Morris external lead keel with modified bulb for performance with moderate draft
• Carbon fiber spade rudder
• Side Power tunnel style bow thruster

DECK:

• Composite fiberglass sandwich with 1” Foam core except in way of hatches, genoa tracks, stanchion bases, mast partners and other deck hardware where high-density foam replaces the core material.
• One piece construction with molded-in fiberglass bulwark.
• The deck is permanently bonded to the hull using a horizontal integral laminated hull shelf and thru bolted.
• Deck flange is solid fiberglass.
• Sport Yacht White gelcoat deck with Greystone non-skid.
• Varnished teak toe rails, hand rails, eyebrow trim, dorade boxes and coaming cap.
• Stainless steel bow and stern pulpits and stanchions with double uncoated lifelines.  Gates port and starboard as well as through stern rail for access to swim platform on transom
• Stainless steel Herreshoff style bow, stern and midship cleats
• Custom cast stainless steel chocks integral to toe rail at bow, midships and stern.  Bow chocks are open to facilitate picking up larger mooring pennants

COCKPIT:

The large, center cockpit provides excellent visibility and a comfortable exterior living area with easy access to sail handling with protection from the elements.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

The interior of Moon Reach is beautifully finished in classic Herreshoff style with Antique White Pionite bulkheads and gloss varnished cherry trim and gloss finished teak and basswood cabin sole.  The interior layout provides privacy for two couples or a family with cabins forward and aft, each with attached head.  Both berths are set up as v-berths with fillers to create large double berths for maximum flexibility in sleeping arrangements and the settees in the main cabin pull out to create additional berths if needed.  A large full width main cabin under the raised salon incorporates a functional nav station, dining and entertaining area, which leads aft through the galley to the aft cabin.  Interior details include:

• White fiberglass v-groove overhead with cherry battens (overhead is put in in panels to allow removal for access to underside of deck or wiring)
• Gloss varnished cherry locker doors are louvered throughout for ventilation
• Satin finished cherry cabin liners
• Overhead hatches have OceanAir recessed retractable screens and shades
• Cherry finger rails along bottom of trunk cabin liner provides sturdy handhold throughout boat
• Espar diesel hot air furnace provides heat throughout boat
• Reverse cycle marine air conditioning throughout interior provides climate control and dehumidifying (2022)

FORWARD CABIN:

The large forward guest cabin has a v-berth with a filler to create a wide double berth and a separate door to the forward head

MAIN CABIN:

The full width main cabin is located in the raised salon area of the boat and provides a bright, open area for dining, entertaining and general living and integrates an aft facing nav station at the base of the companionway steps.  A very comfortable L-shaped settee is next to the mahogany dining table with a settee opposite to starboard.  The large, low-E glass windows of the raised salon bring in lots of light and a visual connection to the outside.  Features include:

• Mahogany drop leave dining table with leaves that extend full width to accommodate diners sitting on both settees
• Liquor bottle storage built into dining table with silverware drawers in aft end
• Storage in lockers outboard of settees  with a bookshelf between the lockers on the port side and a Sony flat screen TV behind louvered doors on the starboard side.
• The locker forward of the TV contains the stereo equipment and the locker aft features a custom wine bottle and glasses storage
• Additional storage behind settee seat backs and in bureau at forward end of starboard settee
• Port settee pulls out to convert to a double berth and the starboard settee slides out to create more comfortable single
• Two overhead opening hatches with integrated retractable screens and shade bring in fresh air
• Stainless steel Frigast bulkhead mounted reading lights are thoughtfully located at each end of the settees while overhead dome lights provide general lighting
• A custom mahogany companionway ladder with curved treads and integrated handholds provides easy access to the cockpit

NAV STATION:

The nav station is located at the base of the companionway to port and provides a large chart table that can also be used as an office space or work area.  The chart table lifts up with storage for charts and equipment and there are mahogany shelves above with removable fiddles

• Panel above chart table hinged to provide access to wiring behind and contains VHF and SSB radios as well as chartplotter and instrument displays

GALLEY:

The galley is located at the base of the companionway to starboard and runs aft to the aft cabin.  Well lit from the large raised salon window above and connected visually to the main cabin, it provides a secure cooking area underway while still being social with the main cabin.  Lots of counter space and well thought out storage and amenities make for an enjoyable cooking area.

AFT CABIN:

The full width aft cabin is accessed through the galley and includes a private head with separate stall shower.  The very comfortable berth is laid out as a large v-berth with filler, allowing flexibility in sleeping arrangements and resulting in a very large double berth with the filler in.  A large cedar lined hanging locker and matching bureau’s port and starboard provide excellent storage with additional space under berth.  A storage locker with double louvered doors on the forward bulkhead on centerline has shelves but could also be used for a TV if desired
